| La Lajita sits on the
East coast of Fuerteventura (see map) between Tarajalejo and
La Cuesta de La Pared.
This is essentially a small fishing village , but thanks to
the recent growth in tourism, becoming more and more popular.
There are a handful of excellent fish restaurants and bars in
the village but the main attraction of La Lajita has to be the
'Oasis de Los Camellos' zoo.
This has plenty to offer from a small selection of animals,
horse rides, parrot shows and a bar set under the shade of palm
trees. If you fancy your chances at riding a 'ship of the desert'
(below), there are also camel safaris.
The zoo is open from 9am till 7.30pm.
